Football Fans from Ireland Somehow Sneaked into Super Bowl XLIX #MMBSports

The NFL isn't going to like this.
Two football fans from Dublin, Ireland—one rooting for the New England Patriots and the other for the Seattle Seahawks—made the flight to Arizona for Super Bowl XLIX. Despite not having tickets to the big game, Paul McEvoy and Richard Whelan thought they'd give it a shot and try to find a way to sneak in.

Chiefs player Husain Abdullah gets penalized after kneeling in Muslim prayer #MMBSports

NFL officiating guru Mike Pereira once said he'd never throw a flag on a player who knelt in the end zone in prayer because he "didn't want to get struck by lightning."
That same belief wasn't shared by the crew working Monday night's Chiefs-Patriots game.

Photoshopped Image Of A Battered NFL CoverGirl Is The New Face Of Calls To Boycott The League #MMBSports

The NFL’s bungled response to the controversy surrounding domestic abuser Ray Rice has resulted in more than just a small headache for commissioner Roger Goodell, for the league itself and for its sponsors. Over the weekend, the women’s rights advocacy organization UltraVioletannounced plans to fly planes over several NFL stadiums with banners reading “#GoodellMustGo,” while the hashtag calling for the commissioner’s dismissal dominated social media. The online protest was accompanied by a graphic image of an NFL CoverGirl Photoshopped to portray her as a victim of domestic violence, in an effort to urge the brand to withdraw its support from the league.

Ray Rice To Be Removed From Madden NFL 15 After Week 1 Update #MMBSports #MMBGames

NEW YORK (AP) -- Video game publisher Electronic Arts is removing former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice from its recently released Madden NFL 15 title, the latest company to pull its support for the player.
EA Sports says Rice will be removed from the game's roster Friday through an online update. EA Sports cited Rice's indefinite suspension from the NFL as the reason for his removal.
EA's Madden is, by far, the oldest and most popular football video game franchise. Its origins date back to the late 1980s, when the industry was in its infancy. It was one of the first games to be updated each year, a business model that would eventually be copied by other publishers.

Ray Rice Elevator Video [Viewer Discretion Advised] #MMBSports

This is what a two game suspension looks like -- Ray Rice delivering a vicious punch to his fiancee's face, knocking her out cold ... and TMZ Sports has the shocking video.

We've already shown you the aftermath outside the elevator ... Rice dragging the unconscious woman on the floor.  But we've now obtained video of the punch that put her down, raising the question ... What was the NFL thinking when it wrist-slapped Rice with such feeble punishment?

The incident took place Feb. 15th at the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City -- after Ray and then-fiancee (now wife) Janay Palmer got into a heated argument on their way into the elevator.
Inside the elevator it's apparent he strikes first ... she hits back ... and then Rice delivers the knockout blow.
The punch knocks Janay off her feet -- and she smashes her head on the elevator hand rail ... knocking her out cold. Ray doesn't seem phased ... and when the door opens, he drags her out into the hotel.

An employee of the hotel  -- which just shut down for good -- tells TMZ Sports he was working there at the time and says the NFL saw the elevator footage before imposing the 2-game suspension.

FYI -- Ray and Janay got married one month after the attack.

Baltimore Ravens Cut Ray Rice; Suspended By NFL #MMBSports

The team just announced it has terminated Rice's contract this afternoon ... hours after TMZ Sports posted the footage of the Pro Bowl running back attacking Janay Palmer in an elevator back in February.

What Are WWE Plans For Former NFL Star Shawne Merriman?

As noted, WWE has signed former NFL star Shawne Merriman to a deal. The idea is to bring him up similar to how WCW brought up Steve "Mongo" McMichael.

They're looking at training Merriman as an announcer, put him on TV while he's also training to be a wrestler, and then transition into being a wrestler when he's good enough.

There is a renewed interest within WWE when it comes to signing NFL players who are still young but their football careers are over.

Roger Goodell: Redskins Name Honors Native Americans - #MMBSports

NEW YORK (AP) — NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the Washington Redskins nickname has been "presented in a way that honors Native Americans."
Goodell said Friday at his annual pre-Super Bowl news conference that he's been talking to Native American leaders in the past year. But he says the vast majority of Americans in general and Native Americans in particular support the franchise keeping the nickname.
Asked if the term was appropriate to refer to a Native American, Goodell said, "This is the name of a football team."

T.O. Back Playing Professional Sport...Bowling [Video]

T.O. finally got his wish. He is back playing professional sports. Unfortunately it is not in the NFL. It is in the PBA, the professional bowling association. Now it may sound funny, but Owens actually is pretty decent on the lane. This video is of him competing in the U.S. open bowling championship. He has owned a pro bowling team for a while now, but this was his first real competition himself. Warning, the guys talking on the video are pretty annoying, but you will tune them out. I still can’t believe with all the average NFL receivers getting paid to play, that someone won’t give T.O. one more shot at the NFL.
