Barack Obama's 2020 Summer Playlist: Megan Thee Stallion, Drake & More #MMBMusic
Barack Obama has Megan Thee Stallion, Drake, Billie Eilish, and many more artists on his summer 2020 playlist.
Hours ahead of Monday night’s (August 17) kickoff of the Democratic National Convention, the former president of the United States rounded up 53 of his favorite tunes of the season as part of his annual playlist, including tracks by several musical acts performing at this week’s political convention.
“Over the past few months, I’ve spent a lot of time listening to music with my family. I wanted to share some of my favorites from the summer,” Obama shared. “As always, it's a mix of genres that travels through various eras. I think there's something in here for everybody—hope you enjoy it.”
Among the tracks to make the cut include Hot Girl Meg’s “Savage” remix with Beyonce, The Chicks’ “Gaslighter,” HAIM’s “The Steps,” Frank Ocean’s “Cayendo,” Eilish’s “My Future,” Mac Miller’s “Blue World,” John Legend’s “Don’t Walk Away” featuring Koffee, “Twist & Turn” by Popcaan featuring Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR, and myriad other tracks.
Obama’s summer jams also featured classic throwbacks like Nina Simone’s “My Baby Just Cares For Me,” Stevie Wonder’s “Do I Do,” Billie Holiday’s “I’ll Be Seeing You,” D’Angelo’s “Higher,” and Bob Dylan’s “Goodbye Jimmy Reed."
Maggie Rogers, who treated DNC viewers to a moving live rendition of “Back in My Body” last night, had the best reaction to learning her song, “Love You For A Long Time,” had earned a spot on the coveted playlist, writing, “LOVE YOU (and Michelle) FOR A VERY LONG TIME."
