Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 76ers, Coming to Wizard World Philadelphia - #MMBComic #MMBSports

‘The Answer returns to Philadelphia!’ Appearing Saturday, May 9th, from 2:00PM til 6:00PM.

After high school, Allen Iverson attended Georgetown University and was the first athlete to leave the Hoyas for the NBA, after only his sophomore year. During his time there he set the record for career scoring average (22.9 points per game) and was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year both seasons. Following two successful years at Georgetown, Iverson was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers as the number one overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. The 1996 Draft has gone down as one of the greatest draft classes in the history of the NBA. Allen was named Rookie of the Year in 1996-97. He is also an eleven-time All-Star, two- time All-Star MVP and League MVP. Allen is a four time Scoring Champion and his regular season career scoring average of 26.7 points per games ranks sixth alltime, in addition, his playoff career scoring average of 29.7 points per game is second only to Michael Jordan. In 2001, Iverson also led his team to the NBA Finals. Additionally, he represented the United States in the 2004 Summer Olympics, winning the Bronze Medal.

On March 1, 2014, the Philadelphia 76ers honored one of their greatest players when they officially retired the iconic number “3” jersey in a special ceremony at the Wells Fargo Center. On the Friday night prior to this historic event, the Honorable Michael Nutter, Mayor of Philadelphia, officially declared March 1, 2014 as Allen Iverson Day in Philadelphia. Allen Iverson will go down in history as a legendary figure for not only the Philadelphia 76ers, but for the entire NBA. He changed the game with his signature move as well as his signature and controversial look on the court. Adorned with his shooting sleeve, cornrows, tattoos and lethal crossover, Iverson achieved something far greater than expected from his 6’0”, 165-pound frame. Despite his lack of size, Iverson dominated the basketball court night after night. He was fearless and tough and the city known for its fighting spirit loved him. Iverson is also the proud father of five- Tiaura; Allen II (Duece); Isaiah Rashaan; Messiah Lauren and Dream Alijha.
