Wrestlemania 31 Location Narrowed Down

According to a report by the San Jose Mercury News, WWE has narrowed down the choices for the WrestleMania 31 host city to either Santa Clara, California or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Santa Clara is in contention because of Levi's Stadium, the future home of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, that will open for the 2014 NFL season.

Santa Clara's Mayor, Jamie Matthews, along with 49ers executives are expected to meet with WWE officials at WWE headquarters soon. Two weeks ago, WWE officials met with 49ers executives in California to pitch the stadium as a future WrestleMania host.

Should the company choose Santa Clara to host WrestleMania, they will be jumping ahead of the NFL, who will be hosting Super Bowl L (50) on February 7th, 2016, which is a full ten months after WrestleMania 31. Earlier this year, WWE ran WrestleMania in New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, running ten months ahead of MetLife's hosting of the upcoming Super Bowl XLVIII (48).
