MTV has confirmed that Jersey Shore is coming to an end after Season 6; the announcement came down from the network on Thursday.
The news, while disappointing for fans, certainly does not come as a surprise. For months it’s been rumored that the show would end following the upcoming season, and with Snooki becoming a mother, and the cast growing up, there was only so much producers could do.
The final season of Jersey Shore kicks off on Thursday, October 4, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, but MTV will commemorate the end of the series with a farewell one-hour retrospective, called, appropriately enough, “Gym, Tan, Look Back.”
That special premieres at 6 p.m. ET/PT in the lead-up to the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.
