Report: PSU players asking about Temple

When the NCAA sanctioned Penn State earlier this week, it also allowed current members of the Nittany Lion football team to transfer without any loss of eligibility.

There hasn't been any sort of exodus thus far, but with training camps around the country rapidly approaching, decisions could be coming soon.

Indeed, Temple quarterback Kevin Newsome, who spent two seasons at Penn State (2009 and 2010) before transferring to Temple in January this year, is already hearing from former teammates asking about his new program.

“There are a couple of guys that have talked to me about Temple,” Newsome told the Temple News on Thursday. “There are a couple of guys that are interested.”

TTN's report states that Newsome refused to specifically name the players he's talked to, but has "received multiple phone calls from players asking him about Temple since the NCAA sanctions were announced."

Though Newsome said it was his impression that most Penn State players will remain with the program, the story only furthers the debate about how school's recent misfortunes might benefit other programs.

Temple's training camp is set to open on Aug. 4.
